The Feb 14th event will be at Faith Presbyterian  church.  This will be a Tyer’s Choice night.  There will be a brief presentation on a fly tying material or technique.  Then we will break into groups to tie a fly of our choice.  If you have been meaning to tie some midges or wooly buggers for your fly box, this would be a good time to do it while you enjoy the company of other tyers.  We tried this format at the first Fly Tying night in January and it was a big hit.

Fly Tying Night Feb 28–Tier – Bill Pettinger

Fly – Big Eye Fly

Originated in the early 1980s by a UK fly tier, this pattern has rapidly gained popularity

worldwide. It’s certainly a non-traditional pattern and has an amazing bobbing and

weaving action in the water. The pattern presented here is an attractor type patterns

but any number of natural patterns can be tied with the bulbous eyes that give this fly

its name.  The foam at the eyes will let it float but it is sometimes fished on a sinking

line with great success.
